New date – Saturday 2nd October – Sponsored Walk for Haiti

Due to maintenance works on the local DART line, our walk has put back by a week to a new date of October 2nd.  Many walkers traditionally use the DART service to arrive or return from the walk, so it has been necessary to make this change for the convenience and comfort of attendees.

As you will be aware, Haiti has recently been struck by yet another devastating earthquake.  Once again, the island is in dire need of even the most basic of supplies and people find themselves homeless and vulnerable for the second time in a decade.

Bray to Greystones – a beautiful cliff walk

Each year we gather to ‘Walk for Haiti’, a critical part of our fundraising efforts, and now it’s even more important than ever.  The last year or so has elevated walking to a national pastime, with the streets of our cities, towns and villages full of people looking to keep fit and take a welcome break from the inside of their own homes.

On Saturday 2nd October we’re asking you to donate a little bit of that shoe-leather and walk with us for the children of Haiti.  We will be walking from Bray to Greystones and back – the famous picturesque cliff walk that totals a round trip of just under 10k.

We’ll be kicking off at 11.00am from Butler & Barry on Bray seafront.   Our volunteers will be outside to direct you on the day, maintaining social distancing at all times.  There’s no need to register in advance, simply pop on a comfortable pair of shoes, a warm top (better safe than sorry!) and join us at any time from 11.00am onwards.  You can walk the full round trip, just one way or just donate to our appeal – the choice is yours.

How to Donate

To keep things simple, we’re looking for all participants to donate via our website.  We have a secure donate facility powered by Donorbox, giving you the assurance of knowing that your donation will be made in a fully secure and encrypted manner.

If you’re not a walker but would like to help, again please click on the donate button in the top right of the screen and give anything you can.  We are a volunteer-based organisation and every euro collected goes directly to maintaining a supply line of relief aid shipped directly to the island.  We also ask that you share this note with as many of your friends, family and work colleagues as possible.

Walk for the children of Haiti

Date                      Saturday 2nd October 2021

Time                     From 11.00am – staggered start

From                    Butler & Barry, Bray Seafront

Afterwards           Pizza and refreshments served in the outdoor area of Butler and Barry from 1.00pm

Pretty soon the news agenda will move on, but the situation for the children of Haiti will remain grim with poverty, poor sanitation and food insecurity continuing to plague the small island nation.  With your help we can give vulnerable children a future, protecting them from dangers they shouldn’t have to understand and creating an environment where they get to be children once more.
