In any area of conflict, the physical scars are all too visible. The emotional scars, however, can be harder to detect and treat. Many people in Ukraine have experienced significant emotional trauma – the constant anxiety associated with living through conflict, the destruction of homes and material possessions and the injury or even loss of friends and family.
Over recent years, equine therapy has been used as a therapeutic approach for individuals impacted by trauma and PTSD. Because of the emotional sensitivity of horses to humans, they can provide support and feedback to people helping them identify and cope with the difficult feelings and triggers that come with trauma.
